The design can be worked in tent stitch (continental stitch) throughout, on 12 count full colour printed interlock canvas Skill level 3 (intermediate). The kit also comes with plenty of Anchor Tapestry wool yarn to complete, together with full, easy to follow instructions. Different stitches can be used for the more experienced stitcher, including Stem stitch and Satin stitch. Skill level 4 (experienced). Full instructions are included. The backing and other finishing materials are not included. This is one of three tapestry designs based on scenes from the most famous tapestry of them all; the Bayeux Tapestry. This design shows The Coronation of Harold. The companion kits,’Hastings – William rides to war’, shows William and his knights on horseback in battle at Hastings. The other, Invasion – The Crossing, shows William the Conqueror’s invasion fleet crossing the channel packed with Norman knights and their war gear. News of Edward’s death and Harold’s coronation is carried across the channel to William, Duke of Normandy. William is furious – he claimed that the throne of England should be his and saw Harold as a usurper. William decides to attack England and organises a fleet of warships. William’s men prepare for the invasion. Woodmen fell trees and shape them into planks. The planks are used for building boats which men drag down to the sea. Once completed William leads his army to the boats; they embark and set sail. The sea is crowded with ships, full of soldiers and horses. Thank you for looking.
